Happy Birthday America

Our fourth of July was a long day...we were up at 6am to be ready for the 5k race that Maddie and Hannah participated in. They had to be there at 7am. By 8am the sun was already unbearable and it was a little overcast so it was muggy as well. They had a good time mostly walking the 5k with friends. Then we just had enough time to get home and changed and back for the Kaysville city parade. Every float here throws candy, toys, or something (including toothbrushes, combs, stuffed animals, balls etc.) each kid had a bag to put their loot in and they all came home with a full plastic bag. Rylee got a whoopee cushion which all the kids thought was hilarious and insisted on calling it a "fart pad" all day.

After the parade, we went to the Jeffs and had a BBQ, then played games until it was time to go to the firework show. The show in Kaysville is pretty good...it is all set to music, including Neil Diamond coming to America, Indiana Jones theme song, Proud to Be an American, and the Chariots of Fire theme song just to name a few. Before the show starts (at 10pm) the announcer has the whole crowd sing Happy Birthday to America. we got back to the car at 10:45 and by the time we got home 10 min later, the kids were out. It was a perfect July 4th with Popsicles, glow sticks, trampolines, BBQ's, parades, fireworks and fun.
