Since then we have played it 5 times! You'll love it if you like strategy games like Settlers of Cattan, Acquire...etc. Ryan loves the picture on the box. Some of the best games we've ever played have the most boring boxes! We always joke about Acquire....
How can this game be fun...a stuffy looking business guy holding glasses at a desk....ooh that looks fun! And the slogan... "high adventure in the world of high finance"? Our friends the Jeffs admitted to us that they only agreed to play it the first time to be nice, but they were dreading it. Now they love it!
So, when Ryan saw the picture on Power Grid, he thought, this has to fun! He was describing it to another friend, "The box has a picture of a scientist looking guy in a white coat turning a bunch of dials..." and the guy's response was, "you had me at scientist..." They didn't stay for games that day, so they don't know what they missed out on!
So I guess the moral here would have to be, you can't judge a game by the box. We were into the fourth hour of playing at 11pm Sunday night and our kids were begging us to go home and put them to bed. We told them to lay on the floor and close their eyes because we were not done yet. They all were out cold by the time we finished and Ryan had to carry them all to the car. Can't wait to play again!
