We went on a walk on the Hobble Creek Canyon trail a few Sundays ago. Ryan told the girls we were having a contest to see who could spot poison ivy first. ( He always teaches them about different plants - which are dangerous, which are not and how to recognize them.) None of us spotted any the whole time. As we were heading back to the car, Ryan decided to have one more look at the creek (of course). Gracie went down to the creek with him and came back with some new leaves for Maddie's collection.
Ryan saw them and says "Where did you get that!? It's poison ivy!"
She had picked poison ivy and handed it to Maddie! They each only touched it with one hand, and it was getting dried up and turning red anyway. We just made sure they didn't touch their eyes or anything and immediately had them wash up really well. Gracie was pretty pleased with herself that she found it, even if it was by accident.
